Knights of . . . St. John, Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta!
Naming the Knights of Malta
The official name of the Order of Malta is the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta. Abbreviations of the name - Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Sovereign Order of Malta, or Order of Malta - are often used for legal, diplomatic or communication purposes.
The knights were initially called the Knights Hospitaller (or Hospitallers) to describe their mission. But they were also called the Knights of St John because of the Order’s patron saint, St. John Baptist, and also of Jerusalem because of their presence in the Holy Land. Also used in the past was the term The Religion to emphasise the characteristic of religious confraternity.

An Old St. Croix, Virgin Islands Map
When looking at old maps of St. Croix, it is apparent that Christianity certainly took a hold of the island early on – and perhaps these plots of land and early names date back to the Malta era: Sion Farm and Jerusalem become subdistricts of the island; all in close proximity to the Slat River Bay area.
Nearly 150 years after Columbus’s discovery, the Knights of Malta began exploring the Caribbean. Why? Perhaps they were getting weary of the rising Islamic forces that surrounded the small islands - the Great Siege of Malta occurred in 1565, in which the Knights claimed victory, but the threat of takeover was clearly becoming a possibility and if they really had the Ark, the secret sect would certainly want it moved. But, where was the question.

Ark of the Covenant on St. Croix Island?
Where is the Ark of the Covenant?
The very mentioning of the words Ark of the Covenant evokes different reactions to different people. The Internet is rife with literature of scholars and historians who have devoted their life time in research aimed at unraveling the mystery of the disappearance of the treasured chest, that is said to contain the two stone tablets, that God ordered Moses to prepare, after emotionally breaking the original ones.
It is on the latter tablets that God, inscribed the Ten Commandments, using His own hand. The tablets were put in a chest, whose dimensions were precise, given to Moses by God in person as explained in the book of exodus 25; 9 – 10. Scholars are able to trace the whereabouts of the chest until about 600 BC. The chest is said to possess mysterious power. When it was carried by the Israelis, they enjoyed special powers and protection as the Holy Scriptures explains. Joshua; 3; 15 -16 4; 7-18. (James G. Kamweru)

Is the Great Search Coming to an End?
“The St. Croix Ark”, is an extensive history of the Knights Templar and the Knights of Malta/St. John, written by Noel. Based on years of researching archives, interviews and academic correspondence: Noel believes the Ark of The Covenant was secretly moved to St. Croix when the Knights of Malta purchased the Virgin Islands.
Noel brings the reader a complete understanding of his conspiracy theory, a journey that dates to the time of the first Crusades, and a place called King Solomon's Temple; as most of us know, the last known location of the Ark of The Covenant.
Imagine for a moment that the most coveted “Holy Relic” has been secretly hidden on a remote island in the Caribbean. J.P. Noel, author of “The St. Croix Ark,” takes readers on a plausible journey to explore the possibility that the Ark of the Covenant may be resting in the U.S. Virgin Islands. As he began the research on the island of St. Croix, he was struck by a presence of the first European inhabitants that seemed to have been poorly documented: the Knights of Malta, who once owned St. Croix.
As Noel struggles to find answers about the unique and murky history of St. Croix. A second trip to the island intensifies the authors intrigue as he stumbles across an old structure bearing red crosses, located in the Salt River Bay; the original landing site of Christopher Columbus.
